Hello again my dear readers. Well I hope you guys enjoy my first entry. For the second entry its a continue of my food hunting around Kuching. If you guys still remembered for the first entry I've talking about Sarawak Laksa , "Mee Kolok" , Ice- cream "Gula - Apong", "Umai" , and "Teh C- Special". So this time I'll be talking few more my favourite dishes. Well as we all know Sarawak also famous with the "ayam pansuh" or chicken cook inside the bamboo. Actually this dish is famous among Iban people. Here a picture of "Ayam Pansuh".
Freshly cook ayam pansuh. Best eat while it still hot with hot plain white rice.
Another Sarawak dish that I love to eat is the "Midin Belacan". Actually this "Midin" only available at Sarawak. This make visitors from outside when the come to Sarawak will surely find this vegetable. Usually people cook this "Midin" with shrimp paste. Also not to forget the "Terung Dayak". People in Sarawak call it as Sarawak Apple just because of its shape and size. Dont be suprise if you go to the open market you will find that the price of 1 "Terung Dayak" will cost you around RM3.00 and above. Below are the pictures of the already cooked "Midin Belacan" and "Terung Dayak".
These are the image of the famous "Terung Dayak". Best way pf cooking by making it as soup boil together either with enchovies or dry fish.
The already cooked version of "Midin". The best way of cooking this"Midin" by add with shrimp paste.
Sarawak also famous with the colourful layer cake or to be exact the famous "Kek Lapis". This beautiful layer cake can only be found at Sarawak. Nowadays it is easy to find and buy this layer cake because some of the cake maker have their own "Kek Lapis" bakery and they even offer delivery via post caurier. I found that this "Kek Lapis" quite unique from the normal typical cakes. This is because this cake have many layers and those layer were glue with the fresh made fruit jem. To produce this cake, it need long time so that the cake produce will be perfect and it will taste nice. This "Kek Lapis" commonly serve during festive season. Not only limited to "Hari Raya" celebration but also these "Kek Lapis" alsong been serve during Chinese New Year,Christmas and any other festive seasons. By the way, here's some photos of the famous "Kek Lapis" Sarawak. Actually it have two version, the normal "Kek Lapis" and the roll "Kek Lapis".
Such a mouth -watery scenery I guess. The colour itself can make you imagine what does it taste like. The art of each design can be seen clearly. You can see how much work need to be done to produce one perfect "Kek Lapis' Sarawak.
For the next entry I will be sharing some few places to go for the food lover.
